About the Project

A self-initiated material study that treats raw geology the way a studio treats a product. The same seamless backdrop, the same controlled light, the same obsessive framing normally reserved for a launch image — applied to something nobody designed. The question was simple: if you give a rock the full product-photography treatment, what does it start to look like?

The series works across two opposite materials. A wet crystalline crust — blue, glassy, refractive — shot close enough that depth of field collapses and the surface reads as terrain rather than object. Against it, dry limestone: matte, porous, chalk-white, lit hard so that every pit throws its own shadow. Modelled and rendered in Cinema 4D with Redshift, using procedural displacement, layered subsurface and thin-film reflection to hold the surfaces honest at full zoom.

Then the mass is broken open. Inside sits a machined, soft-cornered form with a single floral aperture cut through it — a manufactured signal buried in something entirely unmanufactured. Geological time against industrial precision; enormous weight suspended on nothing but wire. At that point the stone stops being scenery and becomes the packaging.
